SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS 
  • Special Education Program 
    • Students with emotional disabilities 
    • Students with severe disabilities 
    • Students who are deaf or hard of hearing 
  • Alternative Education Programs 
    • Community Schools 
    • Court School 
  • Charter Schools 

Requirements: 

  • Valid California teaching credential or substitute permit registered with the BCOE Credentials Office 
  • TB Clearance dated within last 4 yrs 
  • Fingerprinting/Background check 
  • Completion of the Substitute Teacher new hire packet 

Competitive Rates: 
$75 for ½ day (less than 3 hrs.) 
$120 for full day (3 hrs. or more) 



PARAPROFESSIONALS 
  • Work under the supervision of a certificated teacher to support and 
  • assist in providing instruction and other direct services to students 
  • Special Education Program 
    • Students with emotional disabilities 
    • Students with severe disabilities 
    • Students who are deaf or hard of hearing 
  • Alternative Education Programs 
  • Charter Schools 

Requirements: 

  • TB Clearance dated within the last 4 yrs 
  • Two letters of recommendation 
  • If you have a minimum of 48 units at an accredited college, OR if you have passed the required assessment test (can be taken at BCOE), OR possess proof of passage of another NCLB assessment you will be paid at a higher rate. 
  • Completion of the Substitute Paraprofessional packet 

Competitive Rates: Current rate is $12.23 
with NCLB compliance; $11.75 if not 


EDUCATIONAL SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS


Provides interpreting & support services to hard of hearing & deaf 
students.
